Dr. Harry Schanzer

Founder, Director

Dr. Harry Schanzer has practiced surgical medicine since 1968. Since 1977, Dr. Schanzer has focused on treating the circulatory system, specifically the veins and arteries which transport blood throughout the body. His specialties today include vascular surgery for problems of the blood vessels, and in recent years he has focused on minimally invasive, endovascular techniques for eliminating varicose and spider veins in as little as a single office visit. Dr. Schanzer also performs surgery for patients requiring dialysis for chronic kidney failure.

From 1977 to ’95 Dr. Schanzer was Director of the Department of Surgical Research at New York’s Mt. Sinai School of Medicine, as well as Director of Mt. Sinai Hospital’s Vascular Laboratory. From 1995 through 2000 he has served first as member and then as chair of the Issues Committee of the American Venous Forum, the nation’s premiere source for expertise on varicose, spider veins and other vascular problems.

With over 140 published articles and a U.S. patent to his name, Dr. Schanzer is an acknowledged leader in the field of vascular surgery. With an array of today’s most sophisticated, non-invasive and minimally invasive techniques, Dr. Schanzer also remains a passionate ally to his patients.
